Safety, plainly stated
GLP-1 medications commonly cause side effects, especially when starting — nausea, constipation, and digestive discomfort are the most frequent. Serious side effects are possible. Your provider reviews the risks with you before prescribing and remains available throughout treatment.
Important safety information
In studies with mice and rats, semaglutide and tirzepatide caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is unknown whether these medications cause thyroid tumors or medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people. Do not use these medications if you or a family member have a history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
